UEQ+, developed by Martin Schrepp and Jörg Thomaschewski from 2019 onward, turns the User Experience Questionnaire from a fixed instrument into a construction kit. Instead of one questionnaire for every product, you select the UX dimensions that matter for your case and build a questionnaire from them.
UEQ+ offers a catalog of more than 20 standardized scales, each consisting of four semantic-differential items. Examples include efficiency, perspicuity, dependability, trustworthiness, visual aesthetics, and value. You pick the scales relevant to your product and combine them, so a banking app and a game can each be measured with a fitting set of dimensions.
Unlike the classic UEQ, UEQ+ also asks respondents how important each dimension is to them. Those importance ratings weight the scale scores into a single UX key performance indicator (KPI), giving you one comparable number that still reflects what users actually care about. Mature, competitive products typically land between +1 and +2 on this KPI.
